Removals From Dublin To Edinburgh Scotland

Why move to Edinburgh?

Edinburgh is located on the east coast of Scotland. It is the country’s capital and home to the Scottish Parliament. It is steeped in history and famous for its castle which attracts thousands of visitors every year. There is also the International Edinburgh Festival and its iconic Fringe Festival which take place during August. With excellent transport links to Edinburgh International Airport and other major cities it is a great place to live and work. Of course relocating to a new city is a big step so make sure that your move is as simple and stress-free as by choosing a reputable professional company. At Get Cracking we can provide a professional service to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Making the move

There are few a few things you might want to think about before moving to Edinburgh.

Housing

Average house prices in central Edinburgh are higher than other parts of Scotland although lower than many other parts of the UK. Fortunately there are plenty of lovely areas just outside the city where house prices are considerably lower. Many people who work in Edinburgh live in one of these smaller towns and villages which are within easy commuting distance of the capital. As well as being cheaper, they offer a pleasant alternative to the bustle of the city.

Transport

Public transport in Edinburgh is excellent. Buses are a quick and easy way to get around the city. And Edinburgh even has its own trams for faster travel on certain routes including to Edinburgh International Airport. The airport also offers regular cheap flights to Dublin, with journey times averaging about 1 hour.

Glasgow, Scotland’s other major city is only 47 miles away. There are regular trains to Glasgow which will get you into the city centre in less than an hour.

Education

Edinburgh offers excellent choices for education from preschool to university. Most children attend the state schools but there are also a number of well-established private schools to choose from. The Scottish exam system differs from the rest of the UK but the qualifications are recognised internationally so will not limit your child’s choice of university or college.

Employment

Employment prospects are good. There are many jobs in both the public and private sector and the service industry is booming. Tourism is one of the key industries and offers both long term and short term opportunities, especially during the busy summer period.

Plenty to do

As well as the Edinburgh Festival there are plenty of museums, galleries, cinemas and theatres to keep you entertained. There is also Edinburgh Zoo, with its famous pandas which makes a great day out for all the family.

For foodies, you will find award winning restaurants serving many different types of cuisines. As well as sophisticated bars there are plenty of old fashioned pubs. Many of these host live traditional music sessions.
